Decolourization of selected synthetic dyes by Ganoderma sp.

The present investigation focused on the isolation and characterization of laccase producing fungus, which can efficiently decolourize the selected synthetic dyes, Crystal violet, Methyl red, Methyl blue, Malachite green and Methyl violet. The mushroom was collected from Karnatak Science College Campus Dharwad, India. In this study, the fruiting body of mushroom was used for the isolation of mycelia. It was cultivated on potato dextrose agar (PDA) plate with indicator compound Guaiacol to screen for the laccase production ability. The isolated laccase producing fungus was morphologically identified as belong to Ganoderma sp. Further dye decolourization was performed with the selected fungus.
