Diversification of existing rice-based cropping system for sustainable productivity under delayed onset of monsoon

Field experiments were conducted at Annamalai University Experimental Farm, Annamalai Nagar to find out an economically viable alternative cropping system for late receipt irrigation water situation in Veeranam Ayacut command area, which is situated at the tail-end of Cauvery delta zone, Tamil Nadu. The results of the study clearly indicated that the highest rice yield equivalent, resource use efficiency, net return, return rupee-1 invested were obtained under sesame-rice-blackgram cropping system.
