Alpha amylase production from Aspergillus terreus UF39 using oil cakes

Different Agro – industrial wastes (Groundnut Oil cake, Coconut Oil Cake, and Mustard Oil Cake) were used as substrate for production of alpha amylase from Aspergillus terreus UF39. Parameters like effect of carbon supplements (starch, lactose, sucrose, and maltose), and nitrogen supplements (peptone, urea, ammonium sulphate, and sodium nitrate) on enzyme production were studied with optimization of incubation period and temperature. Among all oil cakes, Coconut Oil Cake showed good potential for production of alpha amylase for 6 days of optimum period at 37°C. Maltose and peptone were the promising supplements for production of alpha amylase using all three types of oil cakes.
