Effect of exogenous application of salicylic acid on biochemical constituent in black gram (Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper irrigated with saline water

Salinity is a major environmental constraint influencing plants productivity and plant distribution worldwide. Salinity reduces the ability of plant utilize water and causes a reduction in growth rates, as well as changes in plant metabolic processes. Thus, the green house experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of exogenous application of salicylic acid (SA) under salt stress on physiological, biochemical parameters and enzymatic activities of black gram. The pulse crops black gram (Vigna mungo L.) is an important protein source that is grown in all over India. In addition, it also plays an important role in sustaining soil fertility by fixing atmospheric nitrogen. The observations were recorded for the biochemical parameters total soluble sugar, reducing sugar, proline and glycine betain changes in biochemical parameter of total soluble sugar, reducing sugar, proline and glycine betain in leaf was increased with higher concentration of salt stress. Salicylic acid can regulate various plant metabolic process and modulate the production of varied biochemical parameter like total soluble sugar, reducing sugar, proline and glycine betain. This investigation have proved salicylic acid as a strong and potential biomolecules in reducing the adverse effect of salt stress in plant.
