The best levels of total flavonoids and carotenoids in the dry extracts of the calyx and corolla of Bombax costatum are obtained when these plant tissues are dried in the shade and the extraction carried out with respectively hydro-ethanol solvents (30 ̸ 70, v ̸ v) and hydro-acetone (30 ̸ 70, v ̸ v). As for polyphenols, the same plant tissues must be dried in an oven and the extraction must be made with the solvent hydro-acetone (30 ̸ 70, v ̸ v). The hydroethanolic dry extracts of calices and corollas of the oven dried Bombax costatum flower have the highest antioxidant activity regardless of the method used.
